Lincoln, Retford, Scunthorpe Team

Mark

Managing Partner
I started working here in January 2017 when I founded the company. My role involves balancing the needs of the practice with hands-on work with clients. My focus is on ensuring that the business delivers the highest standards and continues to grow. With clients, I typically assist businesses in improving performance, preparing for a sale, or managing succession planning.

I passed the AAT examinations in 2003 and have 23 years of experience in practice, with over 15 years at a senior level.

I enjoy being part of an amazing team that has quickly grown into a multi-site accountancy practice. Outside of work, I spend time with my wife and children, watch Liverpool and Scunthorpe United, and occasionally play the guitar, reliving a past life.

Scunthorpe Team

Stuart

Client Partner

I started right at the beginning back in 2017 when Mark started on his own, helping Mark to build the business – literally as my first job was to build storage racking and the desks.

I organise my team, plan work flow, provide guidance, advice, training and assistance to the team. I am also involved with accounts preparation, reconciliations, Tax returns, VAT returns and tax planning.

I’m part qualified FCA and qualified by experience. I have been working in accountancy since January 1990 in a variety of firms, both big and small. I have experience with primarily SMEs but also some large businesses covering all aspects of accounts, corporate taxes and personal taxes.

I like that Mark is focused on client service and values the staff that work here. The staff are friendly and all support one another with no “that’s not my job” attitude I have seen at other firms.

I enjoy hiking with our two dogs, a Border Collie and a Blue Heeler. I am renovating the inside of an old camper van. I am a massive geek and love playing board games with the family – we joke the only reason we had kids was to have more people to play games with! I enjoy quizzes and finding new and interesting ales – frequently combining these in pub quizzes.

Retford Team

Harry

Client Partner

I began working here as a work experience student in July 2017, followed by an apprenticeship in September 2017.

My role involves corresponding with clients, managing our accounts department, and handling tasks like producing accounts, tax returns, VAT returns, and providing tax planning advice. I hold AAT Levels 3 and 4 and am currently studying towards ACCA.

I enjoy the professional yet relaxed work environment and the camaraderie among the team. Outside of work, I spend time at the gym, playing football, supporting Liverpool, attending festivals, and hiking.

Lincoln Team

Chris FCCA

Client Partner

I began working for our sister practice, Jackson Stapleton Accountants, in August 2018 as a Senior Client Manager at the Scunthorpe office, and more recently, I transitioned to Practice Manager at the Lincoln office. Every day is different, and I enjoy balancing my roles as Practice Manager and Accountant, offering direction and training to the team while coordinating and reviewing jobs to maintain our high standards. I particularly enjoy meeting with clients to provide tailored tax planning advice and assisting with practice enquiries.

I am a fully qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and a member of the ACCA. My training began at PwC, and I’ve had the privilege of working at several accountancy firms of varying sizes, which has given me extensive experience. I now specialise in general practice, focusing on small and medium-sized businesses with a strong emphasis on personalised tax planning.

I’ve enjoyed all my roles at JSA, and the firm has continually supported my professional development. A career highlight has been the opportunity to manage the Lincoln team, and I am thrilled to be working with such a dedicated staff and client base.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, eating out, exploring new places, and walking our pampered dog, Hunter. I’m also a fan of running, cycling, and watching Formula 1.

Scunthorpe Team

Amber

Client Manager

I started working at JSA on 21st September 2020.

As Client Manager, I work alongside Stuart, our Client Partner, to oversee the work completed by both the accounts and VAT teams which generally includes the preparation and submission of the year end accounts, VAT returns and self assessment tax returns. I also liaise with clients, working to build rapports and provide tax planning advice.

To date, I have achieved both AAT Level 2 and AAT Level 3 and I am currently over halfway to achieving my AAT Level 4.

No one day is the same here at JSA, so it’s great to be able to constantly learn new things whilst getting qualified at the same time. The team also works closely together, so I enjoy being able to collaborate on jobs.

I love spending time with my partner, whether that be just relaxing at home, going out for food or going to concerts to watch our favourite bands. It’s always great to see my family too, who live in Lancashire, so although we don’t see each other a lot it’s always a good time when we do meet up.

Retford Team

Katie

Semi Senior Accountant

I started working here on April 11th, 2022. My day-to-day responsibilities focus primarily on tax returns and VAT returns, which I can now complete independently, along with handling accounts occasionally. I finished school in 2021 with top grades in 9 GCSEs and am currently studying for my AAT Level 3, with plans to become chartered in the next few years.

At JSA, I enjoy the friendly environment where everyone gets along, and I appreciate that each day brings something new to learn. Outside of work, I love hanging out with friends and my dogs, listening to music like Scouting for Girls and Arctic Monkeys, and going on family holidays, often to Turkey. I recently passed my driving test and enjoy taking my purple Fiat 500 for drives—apologies if I accidentally cut you off!

Scunthorpe Team

Safia

Semi Senior Accountant

I started working at Jackson Stapleton Accountants on the 15th August 2022.

Day to day I mainly focus on drafting accounts and complete tax returns.

I finished school in June 2022 with 8 GCSEs and 2 BTECs, my favourite subjects were maths and business studies. I am current studying AAT, I have completed my level 2 and hope to complete my level 3 soon.

My favourite thing about working here is the friendly environment, everyone gets along so well. I also like how every day is different.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I love listening to music (especially Arctic Monkeys and Catfish And The Bottlemen). I also enjoy watching Liverpool games with my step-dad , going to concerts and going on holiday.

Retford Team

George

Semi Senior Accountant

I started work at Jackson Stapletons in July 2023 after completing work experience a few weeks prior.

Currently I work under Harry at our office in Retford, where I produce a variety of work including but not limited to, Tax Returns, Final Accounts and VAT Returns. I also engage with clients where necessary to ensure the production of both accurate and understandable financial statements.

I am currently AAT Level 3 qualified, and I am now working toward my AAT Level 4. In the coming years I hope to progress onto my ACCA to become a fully chartered accountant.

Due to JSA being a fast-growing business I get exposed to opportunities that you would not get elsewhere. This means progression is always right around the corner.

When I am not at work you will usually find me at the gym or eating. I also enjoy playing football and going on hikes in the peak district. Even when I am winding down, I will still have some form of sport on the TV.

Scunthorpe Team

Sophie

Marketing & Administration Manager

I started working at JSA on October 5th 2020. Day to day, I greet clients in reception and handle general admin duties, as well as manage the department across all offices. I also manage every aspect of marketing within the company.

I have 9 GCSEs and was awarded a D*D in my Level 3 Diploma for Creative Media, along with a D* in Level 3 Business Studies from college. In March 2022, I completed my Level 3 Business Administration qualification and in March 2024 I achieved my Level 4 Marketing Executive qualification. I worked at Primark from September 2019 to September 2021, balancing that job with the first year of my apprenticeship here.

What I love about working here is the variety in my role and the chance to get involved in different areas of the business. The people I work with and the clients I’ve met make the job even more enjoyable.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy planning family events after organising my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary in 2022. I like travelling to new places, whether it’s within the UK or abroad, and Devon is one of my favourite places to visit as it reminds me of childhood holidays.

Scunthorpe Team

Fiona

Practice Accounts & Payroll Manager

I started working at JSA on the 18th of March, 2018. My role involves managing payroll and all related tasks such as pensions, holidays, and statutory payments, as well as handling CIS submissions and reclaims. I also take care of bookkeeping and payroll for JSA.

I have 6 O levels and 35 years of experience in payroll, HR, bookkeeping, and various other areas including credit control, VAT, and stock control. I’ve worked mainly in manufacturing and industrial sectors, so this is my first time working on the other side of things in an accountancy practice.

What I enjoy about working here is the modern environment and the use of up-to-date technology.

Outside of work, I love live music, gigs, and festivals, and I’m passionate about scooter rallies—though my Vespa is currently in pieces waiting for a rebuild. When I’m not out, I enjoy crafting, including making cards, cross-stitching, and candle-making. As a proud “cat lady,” I also spend time raising funds for my local cat rescue through auctions, raffles, and selling handmade items.

Scunthorpe Team

Dave

IT Manager

I manage the servers, network, phone system, PCs, and general IT equipment here at JSA. I also develop web apps and create software robots to automate various processes.

I have over 30 years of programming experience and even more in IT. Before my career in tech, I spent 11 years in the Royal Navy, where I gained experience in a wide range of roles—from being part of a demolition team and boarding party to tracking Russian submarines. I’ve programmed for major financial institutions like JP Morgan, Aviva, and Lloyds Bank, among others.

What I enjoy about working here is that every day brings something new, keeping me busy and engaged. The flexibility required for my work is something I appreciate, as it allows me to tackle problems when systems are least disruptive. The people I work with are fantastic too.

Outside of work, I love relaxing with my wife and dogs, traveling around Britain in our caravan. We don’t travel abroad anymore since we won’t leave the dogs in kennels, but maybe one day with a dog sitter. I also enjoy spending time with my seven grandchildren and extended family.

Lincoln Team

Sarah

Senior Client Manager

I first started working at JSA in 2008, stayed for seven years, and then returned in 2018.

My day-to-day responsibilities include managing the personal tax department as well as addressing client queries and offering advice on matters related to self-assessment.

I have completed my AAT and ICAEW Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualifications, with 16 years of experience in practice. What I enjoy most about working here is the opportunity to work closely with our clients and get to know their businesses. I also love the team I work with—many of whom have been here since I first joined in 2008—so it feels like a second family.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two young daughters, and our family, going on walks, visiting parks, and taking trips away. We’ve also been renovating our 1920s house, which has become a long-term project.

Lincoln Team

Muhammad

Client Manager

I started working here in April 2023.

My day-to-day activities mostly revolve around preparing and submitting statutory limited company accounts, corporation tax returns for clients and providing support by answering their queries. I also do director’s personal tax returns and partnership returns and provide advice on tax planning.

I recently graduated with an MSc in Accounting and Finance and am currently pursuing the ACCA. Having successfully passed 8 Fundamental level exams, I am now focused on completing the remaining exams in the near future.

I love working here because of the friendly and supportive environment, and I get to learn new things every day. It’s a great place to grow both personally and professionally.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my friends, whether it’s hanging out or going on trips . I also make time to call and talk to my parents regularly, as staying connected with them is really important to me. I also like to stay productive by studying for my ACCA exams, which keeps me on track with my career goals. It’s a nice balance between relaxation and personal growth.
